Digital marketers aren’t the only people who’ve transitioned to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were scheduled to begin recording the new Jonathan Burks record in March, but then Wisconsin’s aptly named ‘Safer at Home’ order was issued.

We began Zoom meetings to stay connected and maintain at least a little momentum until we can reconvene again in person. The meetings evolved into virtual rehearsals and we are now proceeding with recording an album that will turn out differently from the one we imagined we’d create. We’re passing digital files back-and-forth as each record our parts from our remote locations.
The album is now available for purchase at jonburks.com/album/self-talk. The record will eventually include 10 songs, which will be added as they’re completed. Some tracks may be updated if inspiration strikes, so buying early may give you the opportunity to own various versions or remixes of the tunes.
We are living in very interesting times. Out of necessity comes invention. Artists are great at improvising and we will adapt in order to create. An entire new “COVID-19 era” genre of music is getting created and it will be interesting to hear how it develops.
